Capsule Geology

The Nora occurrence is located on the north side of the Quesnel River, approximately 500 metres east of the community of Likely.

Regionally the area is underlain by alkali basalt of the Upper Triassic Nicola Group of the central Quesnel Belt. Intruding the basalt are dike-like monzonite- syenodiorite stocks. Hydrothermal activity associated with the stock has altered the surrounding volcanics in places with a propylitic mineral assemblage of epidote, chlorite and calcite.

Locally, as defined by drilling, a monzonite breccia hosts chalcopyrite associated with magnetite and epidote. In 1970, a diamond drill hole (A6) intercepted 0.376 per cent copper and 0.10 gram per tonne gold over 4.5 metres, while another drill hole (A7) intercepted 0.367 and 0.10 gram per tonne gold over an unknown length (Assessment Report 3228).

Work History

During 1969 through 1971, Ardo Mines completed programs of ground induced polarization and magnetic surveys, soil sampling and minor diamond drilling on the area as the Pine and Red Rock claims. In 1989 and 1990, International Corona Corporation completed programs of rock and soil sampling, geological mapping and a 13.9 line-kilometre combined electromagnetic and magnetic survey on the area as the Likely property. In 2019 and 2020, KORE Mining Ltd. completed programs of prospecting and geochemical (rock and soil) sampling on the area as part of the South Cariboo property.
